Healthline First Aid: Trains community in hands-only CPR

Greenfield, Wis. – Healthline First Aid hosted several hands-only CPR sessions for the community on Dec. 2. The training center, which is affiliated with the American Heart Association, offered 48 spots in four free sessions.

“The American Heart Association set a goal of doubling the survival rate for cardiac arrests by 2023,” said Andrew Berger, owner of Healthline First Aid. “More than 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside of hospitals every year. We want to train more people to respond to those medical emergencies and ultimately save lives.”

The training sessions covered the basics of hands-only CPR, as well as using an automated external defibrillator (AED) which—when used with CPR—drastically improves survival rates. HealthLine First Aid is a local distributor of AEDs.

According to the American Heart Association, 70% of Americans report that they would be unable to help someone experiencing a cardiac emergency due to not knowing how to administer CPR or believing their training had significantly lapsed.

“Everyone should take first aid, CPR and AED training,” said Berger. “You never think you’ll be in that situation, but if you are, we want you to be confident in your skills.”

In addition to CPR certification, Healthline First Aid offers courses in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, First Aid, Fire Safety, Medication Administration and much more.
