Madison, Wis. (June 29, 2023) – Today’s announcement by the U.S. Supreme Court that colleges and universities may no longer consider race as a factor in college admissions will likely not affect Edgewood College.

“Edgewood College is committed to welcoming students and employees of all races, religions, and ethnicities. We do not take racial designations into account in our admissions process, nor in our hiring process,” President Andrew Manion said. “From our very first days in 1927, the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa committed to providing educational opportunities for young women. That was considered ‘radical’ by some at that time. Today, we embrace that mission that we inherit, to build a more just and compassionate world through the educational experience we deliver to our students.”

“We aspire to reflect the rich diversity of the world’s cultures and perspectives in both our student populations, and in our faculty and staff,” Manion continued. “We know that we have not achieved that goal. We will continue to invite all who would embrace our mission, and continue to work so that all who experience Edgewood College feel they belong,” Manion said.
