SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (October 18, 2023) – Above & Beyond Children’s Museum and Boys & Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County are partnering to create The Collaborative Learning Club – a collaboration-based program for kindergarten-5th grade members. These two local youth-focused institutions will demonstrate the power and value of collaboration by serving families through programming that addresses the increase in developmental learning gaps while meeting kids where they’re at to reduce transportation barriers. The program will run from October through August for a 3-year cycle through 2026.
The Collaborative Learning Club program incorporates and teaches important qualities of a vibrant community including STEAM resources, artistic play, innovation and quality of life. The Children’s Museum will deliver this content directly to Club kids at five of the Boys & Girls Club’s six locations in local elementary schools.
“By partnering to further advance these qualities our organizations make a more powerful and equitable impact for young people which ultimately benefits the entire community.” said Christina Singh, CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Sheboygan County.
The partnership affords the members of Boys & Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County the added benefit of access to the Children’s Museum facility and its experiential exhibits in addition to the specially designed programming for the collaboration. Sessions will focus on STEAM and arts-related activities which include thematic elements that connect to the museum’s exhibits.
“The Collaborative Learning Club program will offer opportunities for sharing Above & Beyond’s play-based, child-led programming model with children who may not ordinarily have access,” said Jackie Erdman, executive director at Above & Beyond Children’s Museum. “Additionally, it allows us to reach outside the walls of the Children’s Museum in an impactful way that gives back and connects with even more children of our community.”
