Stoughton Trucking: EPA awards with SmartWay Honor

STOUGHTON, Wis. (Tuesday, September 7, 2021) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently named Stoughton Trucking Inc. a 2021 SmartWay high performer in environmental and energy efficiency.

“This is a team achievement of corporate social responsibility and sustainability,” said Stoughton Trucking President Peter Danielsen. “Every team member plays an important role, and we’re proud of our strong industry leadership in environmental safety and public health protection.”

The SmartWay program is a partnership of the EPA and the transportation industry to measure the environmental and energy efficiency of movements through supply chains. Since 2004, the SmartWay program has saved more than 312 million barrels of oil, equivalent to eliminating annual electricity usage in 20 million American homes; reduced air pollution (NOx, PM and CO2) by more than 150 million metric tons; and cut more than $41.8 billion in fuel expenditures, according to the EPA.

“Stoughton Trucking has been a contributing member of the SmartWay program since 2009, and we recognize the role we as partners play in improving clean, healthy air and reducing pollution that contributes to nitrogen oxides and fine particulates,” Danielsen said. “Even in these difficult global times, we place a value on our role in the world community as a leader toward the cleanest, most energy-efficient methods of supply chain.”
