WSGA: Announces 2014 tournament schedule

Season features 113th Wisconsin State Amateur Championship at Ozaukee Country Club

Golf House of Wisconsin, West Allis, WI – January 16, 2014 –The Wisconsin State Golf Association has released its 2014 tournament schedule, which can be found in the January/February issue of Wisconsin Golfer magazine. The schedule features 14 state championships, 8 USGA qualifying events, the popular Net Partners Series, and Senior Tour. The WSGA will accept entries beginning on February 12, 2014 at 8 a.m. Online registration will be available at WSGA.org.

Highlighting the 2014 championship season is the 113th Wisconsin State Amateur Championship sponsored by CliftonLarsonAllen, which will be held July 21-24, 2014, at Ozaukee Country Club in Mequon, Wisconsin. The Championship will feature 168 of the state’s top amateur golfers competing for the coveted title of State Amateur Champion.

Players have the opportunity to qualify for the State Match Play Championship and State Amateur Championship through district qualifying events in advance of each championship. State Match Play qualifying will take place at 5 sites between May 16 and June 12. State Amateur qualifying will take place at 9 sites between June 30 and July 3.

New for 2014, the Governor’s Cup Championship and Director’s Cup Championship have been combined into one event, now called the Mid-Amatuer Championship. The new event is open to men 25 and older and will take place September 8-9, 2014 at Bishops Bay Country Club in Middleton. Also new in 2014 is the WPGA/WSGA Spring Showdown, which will be hosted in conjunction with the Wisconsin PGA on April 29, 2014 at Tuckaway Country Club in Franklin. This 18-hole invitation-only stroke play competition will involve the top amateurs, WPGA professionals and unaffiliated professionals from the state. Invitations to the event will be sent out to all qualifying players in early February.

Both the popular Net Partner Series and Senior Tour are back in 2014. Players become eligible to compete in the Net Partners Championship with a top finish in one of 10 Net Partners Tournaments throughout the season. The Senior Tour features 18 events at 10 sites and the top finishers are eligible to compete in the Senior Tour Championship.
