Stateline World Trade Association: Will hold annual Compliance Day seminars

[Beloit, WI / Rockford, IL] – The Stateline World Trade Association, Ltd. (SLWTA) issued a reminder today that it will hold its annual Compliance Day seminars on the afternoon and evening of Thurs., Jan. 23, 2014, starting at 2:00 p.m., at the Butterfly Supper Club, 5246 E. County Rd. X in Beloit, Wisconsin.

The afternoon presentation, at 2 p.m., will feature Lisa Waller, vice-president of BDG International Inc., an international logistics and transportation-services firm based in the Chicago area, speaking on Classification issues, discussing the General Rules of Interpretation, or GRI, the single set of legal principles that govern the classification of merchandise under the Harmonized System.

The evening session, starting with networking at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m., will be presented by Special Agent Byron Franz from the FBI’s Milwaukee Office, who will address the export activities of small and mid-sized U.S. companies and the rapid growth of security threats to intellectual property of these businesses when they become active internationally.

For those who are not members of the SLWTA, the cost is $60 for the afternoon session, $35 for the dinner session or $90 for both; for SLWTA members, the cost is $50 for the afternoon session, $25 for the dinner session or $70 for both.
