Zucker unveils second state tourism ad, makes plans for third

A third TV commercial for the Department of Tourism will be directed by Shorewood native David Zucker.

That commercial will follow a summer TV ad — Zucker’s second — that debuted Monday at the Governor’s Conference on Tourism.

The latest spot features Robert Hays, who appeared in the Zucker-directed “Airplane!” in 1980, as will the forthcoming third TV ad.

Tourism officials said the guv’s budget proposal would allow the agency to run 60-second TV ads for the first time.

Walker told attendees at the conference that his latest budget’s tourism appropriation would build on an increase in his first two-year spending plan, saying the economic downturn was the appropriate time to invest in advertising and bolster the tourism sector.

“We did that very, very well,” Walker told the conference.
