Commercial Real Estate Advisory Firm Invests in Local Business Start-ups
Madison, Wisconsin – Cresa Madison, the area’s only commercial real estate firm that exclusively represents tenants, is opening the doors to a business coworking space in the historic Machinery Row Building at 613 Williamson Street providing a springboard for start-up companies.
The fully furnished office suite has seven independent workstations and two tenants slated for July occupancy, including members of Mark McGuire’s social networking company Nextt and IT/project management consultants, Farwell Project Advisors. In addition, Cresa will be supplying a third workstation free of charge to the Wisconsin Technology Council’s 2013 Governor’s Business Plan Contest finalist. Located across the hall from the space, the Cresa Madison office will be part of the community – their team members serving as a resource to answer business questions and provide insight gained from their many years of experience helping companies plan for and manage growth.
“Cresa Madison is passionate about small business start-ups and their role in our local economy,” says Tim Rikkers, Managing Principal at Cresa. “We are eager to share our unique perspective – both as an entrepreneurial venture and a commercial real estate advisory firm – with new companies looking to establish a professional space for themselves. We created this coworking office in response to what we believe is a very real need for flexible, creative space; and to allow individuals to operate in a collaborative, inventive environment without the burdens often found in more traditional office arrangements.”
Within walking distance of the Capitol Square, Cresa’s Machinery Row coworking space provides start-up companies a flexible, affordable downtown office option. Boasting Wi-Fi and access to a shared conference room and kitchenette, the suite has a decidedly urban vibe featuring lake views, exposed brick and an abundance of natural light, as well as close proximity to restaurants and public transportation.
“A company’s occupancy cost is typically their second highest operating expense to personnel,” Rikkers adds. “Making informed lease decisions from the beginning enables a start-up to conserve cash, with the potential to hire another employee, put more money toward marketing or secure a more desirable location in the future.”
Cresa Madison has been an active supporter of Wisconsin Technology Council’s Early Stage Symposium and Capital Entrepreneurs Group. For more information on the coworking space, please contact Nick Lombardino, Business Manager at Cresa Madison, 608/467-0720 or nlombardino@cresa.com.
