MILWAUKEE – Davis & Kuelthau, s.c. is pleased to announce that former Circuit Court Judge Nelson W. Phillips III has joined the firm’s Milwaukee office as part of the litigation group.
Attorney Phillips was appointed by Governor Scott Walker to serve as a Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge for Branch 17 in October 2011. Judge Phillips presided over criminal misdemeanor cases and conducted countless hearings, motions and trials. He also served as an Assistant United States District Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and as a Milwaukee County District Attorney before taking the bench.
Attorney Phillips’ experience also includes working as a Senior Litigation Associate with Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. in Milwaukee where he handled contract, commercial, labor and employment and general legal disputes. According to Kathy Nusslock, Chair of the Litigation Team, “Attorney Phillips brings a wealth of both public and private sector litigation experience to our firm. His broad expertise and expansive trial experience will be a welcome addition to our litigation group.”
Attorney Phillips received his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and his B.A. in English Literature from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. He is a member of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association, Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association, Milwaukee Bar Association and American Inns of Court.
Attorney Phillips is active in his community and serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation as well as coaches various youth sports teams.
