Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association to Reward Winners with Grocery Gift Cards

Antigo, WI – September 14, 2010 – Tailgating has become a competitive “sport.” Every year, football fans work harder to have the best music, seating, beverages and food available in the stadium parking lot before the game. The Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association (WPVGA) is joining the fun and sponsoring a tailgating competition of its own – the Win with Wisconsin Potatoes Tailgating Victory Recipe Contest.

Consumers simply visit the WPVGA Win with Wisconsin Potatoes Tailgating Victory webpage and download their best fill-your-belly-before-the-big-game tailgating recipe featuring Wisconsin potatoes. The Wisconsin potatoes tailgating recipes can be those that are easy to prepare in advance or can easily be made in the football stadium parking lot.

Tailgating Victory winners will be chosen on October 7, 2011. The first-prize winner will be awarded a $150 gift card from his or her favorite grocery store. The second place finisher will receive a $100 gift card and the third place winner will receive a $50 gift card from their favorite grocery store.

“We decided to run a tailgating recipe contest this year based on consumer preferences,” notes Tim Feit, Director of Promotions and Consumer Education for the WPVGA. “Football fans love to tailgate, but every year the preparations seem to get more involved. We’d like to reward them for their hard work while also offering consumers with some new easy-to-prepare Wisconsin potato recipes they can enjoy while tailgating.”

The WPVGA will provide grocers with free downloadable recipe tearpads of the first place Tailgating Victory Wisconsin Potato Recipe in late October. The WPVGA website offers a diverse selection of free Point-of-Purchase on its industry website http://www.wisconsinpotatoes.com.
