UW-Stevens Point: Williams named to marketing post at UW-Stevens Point

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point alumnus Mark Williams has been named as the assistant to the dean for advancement and marketing for the College of Letters and Science at UW-Stevens Point. He began his new role July 1.

For the last four years Williams has served as the director of development for the college, with a focus on major gift development. In his new role, he will be responsible for collegewide marketing across all media, communications, public relations functions and events. He will also be responsible for coordinating Letters and Science efforts with University Relations and Communications and with college volunteer outreach groups such as the Academy of Letters and Science.

“Mark has been a remarkable resource for the college, and his development efforts in recent years have increased fundraising dollars,” said College of Letters and Science Dean Chris Cirmo. “His new position will afford him use of his experience in publishing and marketing and we look forward to his assistance in moving the College of Letters and Science ahead as ‘The College-at-the-Core.’ ”

Williams graduated from UW-Stevens Point in 1988 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication with an emphasis in advertising. Before joining the College of Letters and Science in 2006, he worked for Krause Publications in Iola and their parent company, F+W Media, as a group publisher. His previous career includes experience in advertising, marketing, personnel and fiscal management for magazines, books, digital media and trade events in more than 18 years of publishing.

“The opportunity to use my background in advertising and marketing at UWSP, my alma mater, is a dream combination for me,” said Williams. Some of his personal interests include home renovation, sports, music, ethnic cuisine and travel.
