Project Will Add 43 Positions in Manitowoc
Madison—Governor Scott Walker announced today that Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry Company, Inc., will invest $7.5 million to expand and equip its facility in Manitowoc. The expansion is projected to create up to 43 new jobs at the company.
“I’m pleased that the state could partner with Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry to help them grow jobs,” said Governor Walker. “The company has deep roots in Manitowoc and we’re excited to see them expand.”
“Wisconsin Aluminum is pleased to host Governor Walker and his team today as we kick-off our largest expansion in 17 years,” said Kory Brockman, the company’s Chief Financial Officer. “The financial support of the WEDC and the solid working relationship we have with the City of Manitowoc has been key to this project’s fruition. This expansion will not only create many new jobs, but allow WAF to grow with its existing customers, and create capacity for new customers in the future.”
The company is eligible for up to $210,000 in economic development tax credits through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) for the expansion project. The project involves expanding the current facility by 35,000 square feet and adding two production lines. The building expansion and first production line will be completed in early 2012 and the second production line will be completed in late 2012.
WAF was founded in Manitowoc in 1909 and is one of the leading producers in the country of non-ferrous castings.
