— Gov. Jim Doyle has announced a major trade agreement between a Chinese company and Wisconsin ginseng growers. The agreement, which makes the company Tong Ren Tang the exclusive distributor of Wisconsin ginseng in China, is estimated to bring more than $12 million back to Wisconsin in the next five years. Wisconsin’s 200 ginseng growers produce about 95 percent of the United States’ total ginseng crop. The contract for intellectual property services is for up to 10 years. Doyle Signs Ginseng Trade Agreement with Chinese Officials: Good things are still coming out of Governor Jim Doyle’s recent trade mission to China. On Wednesday, the state announced a major trade agreement between Tong Ren Tang, a Chinese pharmaceutical company, and the Wisconsin Ginseng Board. As part of the deal, more than $12 million worth of Wisconsin-grown ginseng products will be sold to Chinese consumers.
