— When Dave and Trudy Holdener bought 42 acres in the Baraboo Hills back in 1981, they had no inkling that they would one day open a B&B and corporate retreat on the site.

Back then, they used the land – which offers a sweeping view of Devil’s Lake and the surrounding terrain – as a camping retreat. And over the years, scores of friends camped there with them.

Later, when they decided to build a home on the site, they decided to incorporate a way to keep their friends in the picture

The result is the Inn at Wawanissee Point, which means “beautiful view” in the Ho Chunk language. The three-story, 10,000-square-foot structure, which can best be described as a cross between a Mediterranean villa and a mountain lodge, has four guest rooms.  It cost more than $1 million to build.

— Young adults up to the age of 27 can be covered under their parent’s health insurance under a new rule that takes effect Jan. 1.

Previously, those over 18 could only be covered by a parent’s insurance if they were full-time students.

The State Insurance Commissioner says the change should have a “minor effect” on the overall cost of the parent’s insurance plan.

— A new statewide poll finds more than 4 in 5 state residents are at least somewhat satisfied with their current health insurance coverage.

But the poll from Saint Norbert College and Wisconsin Public Radio also finds roughly 4 in 5 residents think at least some reform is needed to the U.S. health care system.

More than half of the respondents favored offering a federal government insurance plan like Medicare to everyone.
