— Gov. Jim Doyle has announced ten state awards totaling more than $30 million that will be used to construct freight rail-related facilities, and preserve and upgrade rail infrastructure as part of overall efforts to support job growth and Wisconsin’s agricultural economy.

— The Wisconsin Cranberry Growers Association is trying to boost the cranberry industry by hosting 18 trade representatives from 12 countries this weekend.

The international guests — from Australia, Europe, Asia and Mexico — are visiting Wisconsin to learn about the fall harvest and different ways to promote cranberries in their individual countries.

Right now, Wisconsin produces more than half of the world’s cranberry supply and this year’s crop is expected to yield four million barrels.
