MADISON – On Thursday, September 20th the members of Governor Doyle’s Task Force on Global
Warming will meet in Sun Prairie to continue their efforts to address global warming. The Task Force,
comprised of a variety of environmental, industry and utility leaders as well as representatives from the
DNR and PSC and other stakeholders, has undertaken Governor Doyle’s mission to examine the
effects of and solutions to global warming in Wisconsin. The September 20th meeting is a continuation
of a series of meetings the Task Force is hosting and the public and media are encouraged to attend.
The meeting will begin with a presentation from Doug Scott, Director of the Illinois Environmental
Protection Agency and the Chairperson of the Illinois Climate Change Advisory Group. His group
recently forwarded global warming policy recommendations to Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.
Mr. Scott will review his group’s progress and these policy recommendations.
Other presentations throughout the day include:
• Glen Wood, ICF International, and John Larsen, World Resources Institute, will provide an
overview of the modeling that will be used by the Task Force and will review the development
of a Wisconsin-specific reference case.
• Task Force Work Group Co-Chairs will provide progress updates.
• Lisa MacKinnon, Policy Director for 1000 Friends of Wisconsin, and other community leaders
will discuss measures to encourage changes in individual behavior and on support for
sustainable community efforts.
