Movie enthusiasts gather online to share DVD news, release info, reviews and gossip
Hollywood, CA – In an environment where DVD sales routinely outpace ticket sales and new DVD technologies loom, movie enthusiasts have celebrated the arrival of DVD Newsroom, a new blog for all things DVD.
In the two weeks since its official launch on August 1, DVD Newsroom (http://www.dvdnewsroom.com/) has attracted more than 53,000 unique visitors and recognition from sites such as USA Today, Defamer, Engadget and Slashdot.
With offices in New York and Hollywood, the editorial staff of DVD Newsroom is dedicated to breaking DVD, Blu-ray, HD-DVD and entertainment news. “DVD Newsroom is Drudge meets DVD,” said DVD Newsroom Editor Alexander DuPont. “Not only do we spotlight the latest news, we also report on the top online movie and DVD sites. We watch the watchmen. Instead of checking tons of sites, we pull together the pertinent news at one destination.” DVD Newsroom also presents the latest DVD release news direct from the movie studios, including Sony, Disney, Paramount, Warner Bros., Universal and Fox.
According to Jeffrey Wells, of Hollywood Elsewhere, DVD Newsroom is something Internet users have been looking for. “The idea is good — a one-stop shopping DVD site with a daily blog digest of studio news and releases.”
The DVD Newsroom site was created by DuPont and his growing troupe of movie enthusiasts with assistance from Icon Interactive™, an online marketing and technology group based in Madison, Wisconsin. The result, DuPont said, is an easy-to-use and active online community for DVD lovers, movie enthusiasts and home theatre fanatics.
