Dept. of Commerce: Governor Doyle Announces Business Project in Pepin County

MADISON – Governor Jim Doyle today announced that The MBP Company, LLC,
Durand, Pepin County, will receive a $200,000 Community Development Block
Grant – Economic Development (CDBG-ED) loan from the Department of Commerce
(Commerce) to purchase equipment.

“My Grow Wisconsin initiative calls for investing in Wisconsin’s economy by
helping manufacturing companies remain competitive by upgrading equipment
and facilities,” Governor Doyle said. “I am pleased that The MBP Company
will be creating 36 jobs for Pepin County. This is just the kind of company
that we like to see growing and expanding in Wisconsin.”

The MBP Company, LLC processes dry powder milk, whey protein, and other
powdered food products for major food manufacturers. The company will
invest $1.6 million to purchase new equipment for its facility in Durand.
The project will create 36 jobs and retain 29 jobs.

The CDBG-ED program awards grants to businesses that seek to expand or
relocate to Wisconsin. Businesses interested in the CDBG-ED program should
