MADISON-Department of Commerce (Commerce) Secretary Cory L. Nettles today
announced that Pamela Christenson will serve as the director of the
department’s Bureau of Entrepreneurship.

“Gov. Jim Doyle called for the establishment of this bureau because
promoting entrepreneurship is a primary focus of his Grow Wisconsin
initiative,” Secretary Nettles said. “Pam’s impressive credentials make her
an ideal candidate for this position. I am confident that she will be a
great asset in fulfilling our mission to foster economic development in
Wisconsin.”

The Bureau of Entrepreneurship is part of the agency’s Division of Business
Development. It helps emerging high-potential companies find the resources
they need to grow, assists small businesses in navigating regulatory
requirements, and supports the state’s industry clusters. Several new
resources available from the Bureau of Entrepreneurship include the newly
revised Commerce publication, An Entrepreneur’s Guide for Going into
Business in Wisconsin, http://commerce.wi.gov/MT/MT-FAX-0606.html, a revised
version of the department’s Starting a Business in Wisconsin publication,
http://commerce.wi.gov/MT/MT-FAX-0712.pdf, and an updated women’s business
resource listing, http://commerce.wi.gov/MT/MT-FAX-0709.pdf.

Pam Christenson has served as the Small Business Ombudsman for the
Department of Commerce since 2000. Her duties included managing and
coordinating small business activities and issues with the agency. Prior to
that, she spent six years coordinating the agency’s Small Business Clean Air
Assistance Program. She has a BA in Journalism from UW-Madison.
