Milwaukee, Wis. – April 6, 2019 – Variety – the Children’s Charity announces its partnership
with Stein’s Garden & Home’s grand reopening of their Brookfield, Wis. location on Sunday,
April 14, 2019, Noon – 2:00 p.m. The event is open to the public. The Brookfield store is located
at 14845 W Capitol Drive, Brookfield, Wis. In conjunction with the grand reopening, there will
be a special adaptive bike presentation to two local Brookfield girls who will receive customized
bicycles through Variety. Alley Faith of KISS-FM 103.7 will broadcast live from the event.

Nancy Major, CEO of Variety – The Children’s Charity, Wisconsin Chapter, said, “Thanks to
the generous support of community partners like Stein’s, Variety is able to provide these two
girls with their own customized adaptive bicycles through Emery’s Bike Shop. For many parents
of children with special needs, purchasing a bicycle off the floor isn’t possible due to the cost of
adaptive equipment.”

Major continued, “Most of us take our children’s first bike riding experience for granted, not
realizing that for many children with a significant physical challenge, bike riding would be
impossible without specialized, custom-built adaptive bikes. The sense of freedom and
independence children gain from riding their bikes with friends is an integral part of a child’s
development. Being able to provide equipment like this is life-changing for the children and
families Variety serves.”

Bob Young, CEO of Stein’s Garden & Home, said, “As part of our giveback to the community,
we’re thrilled to host this presentation of adaptive bicycles in conjunction with our Brookfield –
Capitol Drive store grand reopening. We’re pleased to partner with Variety – the Children’s
Charity of Wisconsin on our Frankenstein event at Halloween over the past two years. This is the
event that provides funds for Variety’s adaptive equipment program.”

Jennifer Cosgrove, mom of girls Anna and Ivy, said, “We are so excited for Anna and Ivy to
receive hand cycle bikes that have been custom made for them. Riding typical upright bikes is
difficult for them given their lower limb disabilities. And now, with hand cycles, they will be
able to go on family bike rides, keep up with their friends, and experience so much more
independence. We are grateful to Variety, Stein’s and Emery’s Bike Shop for making this a
reality for two very special little girls.”

Variety – the Children’s Charity of Wisconsin’s mission is “Enriching the lives of children with
physical or developmental special needs and their families.” Variety believes that ALL children
deserve the opportunity to pursue a limitless future and works to inspire children to discover life
without limits. The state-wide organization is headquartered in Elm Grove, Wis.
