Building a statewide progressive bloc in the Assembly to fight for working families

MILWAUKEE — Wisconsin Working Families Party today announced their endorsement for Jennifer Estrada in her campaign for District 25 seat in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Wisconsin Working Families Party will mobilize its grassroots supporter base to work for endorsed candidates in the general election. Other support will include canvassing to educate and turn out voters; a texting program; candidate training; and campaign support. The Working Families Party endorsement is a “seal of approval” for progressive voters. Estrada is challenging Republican Rep. Paul Tittl for the seat.

“Wisconsin Working Families Party is proud to endorse Jennifer Estrada for Assembly,” said Rebecca Lynch, Wisconsin Working Families Party deputy director. “Jennifer has the strong values, fierce work ethic, and the courage we need to stand up to politicians and for working people. Our families, our dairy farms, our working moms, our public schools, and our healthcare cannot wait. We need change in Madison now, and we need leaders with strong backbones and the moral compass to lead that change.”

Jennifer Estrada is a Wisconsin native who lives in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The 25th Assembly district represents parts of Calumet and Manitowoc Counties and is home to the most dairy farms in the state. Jennifer is a statewide organizer for Voces de la Frontera, an immigrants’ rights organization based in Milwaukee, where she recruits and trains rapid response to ICE actions, including raids and deportation actions and hearings.

“As a single mother of five children, I know we deserve a Wisconsin where all families like mine can prosper,” said Estrada. “We will never get any real change until we have representatives who are living the struggles that most Wisconsin families face. I look forward to fighting for families like mine in the Wisconsin State Assembly alongside Wisconsin Working Families Party, Voces de la Frontera, and families across my district.”

Wisconsin Working Families Party was key to the victories of lieutenant governor candidate Mandela Barnes, Milwaukee sheriff candidate Earnell Lucas, Sarah Godlewski, who is the Democratic nominee for state treasurer, and Randy Bryce in the August Primary elections. The politically potent organization made strategic primary endorsements to ensure that the boldest working families Democrats are on the general election ballot to challenge status quo politicians and win.
