Airbnb today released its official Midwest Labor Day safe travel tips, providing guidance for Midwesterners headed to Lake Michigan for Labor Day to travel safely and securely.

For most Midwest states, this coming Labor Day is projected to represent historically high influxes of Airbnb guests and economic activity. For Indiana in particular, this Labor Day will bring in the largest supply of Airbnb guests to the state in the history of the platform.

And for Midwest states, it’s most often locals who travel intrastate within the Airbnb platform. For example 40% of Airbnb bookings annually to Michigan destinations are made by fellow Michiganders. Additionally, Airbnb has tax partnerships in place with the states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois to collect and remit state taxes on behalf of its hosts, meaning this Labor Day will also represent a windfall of revenue of those respective state governments.

From Detroit to the La Crosse and everywhere in between, Airbnb’s priority is the safety of our community. The official Midwest safety tips can be found here.
