Wisconsin Public Radio: Targets Milwaukee with new ad campaign

MILWAUKEE – Wisconsin Public Radio’s The Ideas Network will launch an ad campaign targeting Milwaukee-area listeners next week. The new ads, which will appear on outdoor boards and bus shelters as well as on websites and social media, specifically highlight the 90.7 dial position of WHAD-FM, the network’s Milwaukee market station.

The campaign features headlines—including “Find common ground” and “Explore different perspectives”—designed to celebrate difference and encourage curiosity in an era of increasingly partisan media consumption. It was created by Milwaukee agency Boelter + Lincoln.

“The Ideas Network has always been a place where Wisconsinites could connect to each other, to diverse perspectives, and to new ideas,” says Sheryl Gasser, director of The Ideas Network. “As the media landscape has changed, listeners tell us that they are grateful for the respectful conversations and trusted news we offer throughout the day. And they appreciate that we also talk about things that have nothing to do with politics. This campaign was designed to bring more voices and experiences together, to connect communities across Milwaukee, the state and the nation.”

The Ideas Network is comprised of 22 stations that feature Wisconsin-based talk and news programming, as well as NPR newsbreaks and national news and entertainment programs on the nights and weekends. The Ideas Network produces more original content every day than NPR, with 8.5 hours of local programs, including “The Morning Show,” “The Larry Meiller Show” and “Central Time.” It is also produces two nationally syndicated weekly programs, “Zorba Paster on Your Health” and “To the Best of Our Knowledge.”

In addition to The Ideas Network, WPR broadcasts via 14 stations in its NPR News & Classical Music Network and a 24-hour All Classical HD Radio Network. All programs are available for live streaming on the WPR mobile app and at wpr.org.
