Caledonia, Wisconsin — Today, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) endorsed Randy Bryce for Congress against Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan.

“On behalf of the 1.6 million members and retirees represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, it is our honor to endorse you for United States Representative of Wisconsin’s First Congressional District. Despite relentless attacks on workers nationwide and in Wisconsin, AFSCME members work hard every day to strengthen and improve their communities. AFSCME members deserve elected officials who respect and champion their public service and work hard to improve the lives of all working people.”

The AFSCME endorsement comes on the heels of the Randy Bryce campaign’s series of district-wide Town Halls, at which union members from across Southeast Wisconsin made their voices heard in support of a $15 minimum wage, Medicare for All, and justice in the workplace.

“I am honored to have the support of 1.6 million AFSCME members. They are an invaluable partner in our fight to repeal and replace Paul Ryan and I am very grateful for their endorsement. With their help, in one year’s time, we’re going to defeat Paul Ryan.” Said Bryce.

AFSCME joins a growing list of labor unions supporting Bryce’s candidacy, including the United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America, Communication Workers of America, International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Service Employee’s International Union, United Food and Commercial Workers, International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers, International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers Union, International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Wisconsin Nurses, National Nurses United, United Auto Workers, and the National Association of Letter carriers.
