Microsoft: To launch new economic development initiative for Wisconsin

Microsoft and local Wisconsin county executives to speak in Appleton.

APPLETON, W.I. — Microsoft Corp. will host an event on Thursday, Oct. 5 to announce a new economic development initiative, Microsoft TechSpark. Working with community partners, the initiative will accelerate economic opportunities and growth through improved internet connectivity, digital skills development, career skills training, nonprofit support and digital business transformation. Northeast Wisconsin has been selected as one of six TechSpark communities.

The event will include remarks from Microsoft President Brad Smith, Outagamie County Executive Thomas Nelson and Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach, among others. Members of the business, nonprofit and academic communities will be in attendance.
