Milwaukee area to have its first-ever Startup Week

Startup Milwaukee is looking for organizations in southeastern Wisconsin that will participate in the inaugural Milwaukee Startup Week.

The events, to take place the first week of November, looks to bring together entrepreneurs, investors and local leaders across the region. The announcement comes as the metro area dropped from 21st to 31st in the “growth entrepreneurship” index from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

“We feel like there are all these resources out there for entrepreneurs, but there isn’t one unifying event that really highlights all the resources for entrepreneurs in southeastern Wisconsin,” said co-founder Matt Cordio.

The group’s already partnering with other organizations, including gener8tor, Newaukee, CrafterSpace, BizStarts and Ward 4. But it’s looking for more organizations that want to host and sponsor events.

“That’s why we’re announcing it so early and with so little detail,” Cordio said. “We want those organizations to help us create the event.”
