LPGA Legend Will Serve as Tournament Chair for Final Time

Madison, Wis. (June 29, 2012) – The Edgewood College Tee Up for Nursing event is marking a very special year in 2012. LPGA legend Kathy Whitworth, who has served as Tournament Chair for ‘Tee Up’ since its inception, will step away from those duties after this year. Edgewood College launched Tee Up for Nursing in 2004 to assist nursing students who rely on financial assistance. Money raised from the annual event supports scholarships through an endowment, created exclusively to provide financial assistance for Edgewood College nursing students.

Ms. Whitworth will be honored July 8 with the ‘Partnership Award’ from the School of Nursing. The award recognizes those who believe in the shared Mission and Vision of Edgewood College, and demonstrate through their study, reflection, and action the understanding that the School of Nursing at Edgewood College plays a unique and important role in building a just and compassionate world.

The College is pleased to welcome two additional golf notables to campus for the ceremony honoring Ms. Whitworth. LPGA standout Sherri Steinhauer, and PGA star and commentator Andy North are expected at the invitation-only event. Steinhauer is an eight-time Tour winner, including two major championships. North is a two-time U.S. Open champion, and currently serves as a golf analyst for ESPN and ABC Sports.

Tee Up for Nursing 2012 takes place July 9 at Nakoma Country Club in Madison. For more information please visit www.teeupfornursing.com.
