MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee-based Adelman Travel Group has announced the promotion of David M. Rifkin and Michael J. Gillis to new senior vice president positions. Rifkin will be senior vice president of corporate sales, a new position expanding upon his previous responsibilities. Rifkin originally joined Adelman Travel when Adelman acquired his firm, Rifkin Travel in Ansonia, Conn., in September 2003.

Gillis will be senior vice president of Adelman’s new Northeast Region, heading up account management and operations for New England and part of the Atlantic seaboard. He will supervise about 60 employees. Gillis joined Adelman in January 2003 when Adelman acquired his firm, Professional Travel Corp., based in Windsor, Conn., a suburb of Hartford, Conn. Gillis’ new senior VP position also marks an expanded role for him at Adelman.

“Dave will oversee the sales and marketing function for Adelman Travel on a national basis,” said Craig Adelman, president and CEO. “Based in our Southern Connecticut office, he will lead our entire sales organization and support regional sales efforts from coast to coast.” Adelman’s southern Connecticut sales office and reservation center, located in Ansonia, was formerly Rifkin Travel.

“Due to our business growth in the northeast corridor, we created a new position for Mike to oversee our relationship with existing corporate clients in that area as well as new clients we bring on board there,” Adelman said. Gillis will continue to be based at Adelman’s Hartford sales office and reservation center, which previously was Professional Travel’s office.

Adelman Travel focuses on corporate travel management for mid-sized and large companies and also offers leisure travel, meeting and event coordination, and incentive travel programs for clients’ employees and customers.
