MARSHFIELD – Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc., received three Certification Seals from the Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange (CORE) for demonstrating high operating standards for electronic health information transactions within its business processes. Sharing large amounts of electronic data quickly, securely and cost-effectively is an ongoing challenge within the health care industry. Security Health Plan’s recent recognition exemplifies their priority of keeping members’ health information secure.

The certification recognizes the Health Plan’s conformity to the Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange also known as CAQH CORE, operating rules for IT systems and business processes. In 2012, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service named CAQH CORE responsible for the operating rules for electronic transactions while maintaining federally mandated privacy laws.

Certification is optional and illustrates Security Health Plan’s commitment to protecting the privacy of its members. It also helps consumers and communities reach their best health by ensuring access to affordable and high quality health insurance. The Health Plan has met the qualifications for phases I, II and III.

“We are proud of the work done by our staff and always strive to protect the health information of our friends, family and neighbors,” Security Health Plan Director of Operations Sara Foemmel said. “Our members trust us to keep their information private. Receiving this certification affirms the good work we’ve always done and will continue to do.”

The mission of CAQH CORE is to create and adopt operating rules in health care to regulate the work between providers, payers and consumers.

CORE-certified organizations adhere to a common set of national operating rules and standards that improve business processes in health care, and goes above and beyond what is federally required. The CORE Seal is widely recognized as the industry gold standard.
