This award is a part of the chamber’s 2018 Business Awards that highlights local efforts to make the workplace more diverse.
“This is a tremendous honor and I am thankful UW Health has supported me and given me a platform to work positively towards an inclusive and affirming environment at UW Health,” said Bidar-Sielaff, who is the first chief diversity officer for UW Health. “This is about equity for our LGBTQ patients, families, visitors and staff.”
Bidar-Sielaff is a regular and active participant in the Chamber’s leadership council. She is also an alder for the City of Madison.
Rockwell Automotive was named Corporate Partner of the year and MOXIE food + drink in Whitefish Bay was named LGBT Business of the Year.
The awards will be presented at the Chamber’s Anniversary Celebration and Business Showcase Wednesday, October 3, at the Hyatt Regency in Milwaukee. The event runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and the presentation of awards will take place around 6:45 p.m.
Bidar-Sielaff joined UW Health in 1997 as coordinator of interpreter services and Spanish interpreter. She has subsequently served as minority-community relations manager and director of community partnerships before becoming UW Health’s chief diversity officer in 2016. She has been on Madison’s City Council for nine years and is currently serves on the Madison College Board of Trustees, Madison Community Foundation Board, United Way of Dane County Vision Council, Dane County Latino Support Network, and Dane County Latino Health Council.
The Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce is an organization of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and LGBT-allied businesses, corporations and professionals throughout the state of Wisconsin. It offers networking opportunities, business development efforts within the LGBT community, and educational programming to its members. The organization has more than 575 members from around the state. In 2015, the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce received the National Chamber of the Year Award from the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC).
