The UW System Board of Regents voted today on a sweeping restructuring of the UW Colleges and Extension that will transition UW-Rock County to become part of the UW-Whitewater community beginning July 1, 2018.

“This a significant and exciting moment in the histories of both campuses,” said UW-Whitewater Chancellor Beverly Kopper. “This change affords us many positive opportunities to enhance our service to Rock County and beyond. Many questions remain about how all of this will work and we understand this is an uneasy time for many. We are committed to a seamless and transparent transition process and will in true Warhawk fashion bring the appropriate constituents to the table for open discussions, and a collaborative decision-making process.”

Kopper said a leadership team from UW-Whitewater will meet with students, faculty and staff at UW-Rock County on Friday, Nov. 10, to begin this process. UW Colleges and Extension Chancellor Cathy Sandeen and members of her leadership team will be on site to introduce UW-Rock County and UW-Whitewater colleagues.

UW-Whitewater Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Susan Elrod is serving as the representative on the UW System Restructuring Steering Committee. A transition team will include membership from both campuses.

“I will in the very near future reach out to the Rock County Board and leaders in the cities of Janesville and Beloit. I am excited about forging stronger partnerships with community and business leaders, and developing new ways to work together to enhance our communities,” Kopper said.
