Lisbon, Wis. (Sept. 7, 2017) – Members of the Wisconsin Corn Growers Association (WCGA) will have the opportunity to meet with state representatives to discuss the issues affecting farms across Wisconsin when the organization holds its first annual Corn Day at the Capitol from 12-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13.
Attendees will meet to register for the event at noon at The Madison Concourse Hotel, 1 West Dayton St. and a lunch will follow at 12:30 p.m.
At 1:30 p.m. a speaker will present on important issues facing the WCGA and at 2:30 p.m. members will walk to the Wisconsin State Capitol to meet with various representatives in the State Senate and Assembly.
A reception attended by legislators and staff, featuring drinks and hors d’oeuvres, will follow from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Members are also invited to attend the 37th Wisconsin State Championships on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Jefferson Speedway in Cambridge. The Wisconsin Corn Gate will open at 5 p.m. with a free pre-racing hog roast being served at 5:30 p.m. Racing will begin at 7 p.m.
Members and one guest are free with additional adult tickets $32 each. Additional tickets for youth ages 8-15 are $25 while those younger than seven are free.
