Bon-Ton Stores, Road Recovery and Partnership for Drug-Free Kids Collaborate with Fashion

Industry to Fight Addiction Epidemic this Back-to-School Season

MILWAUKEE, WI – August 31, 2017 – The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ: BONT) has announced its collaboration with Road Recovery and Partnership for Drug-Free Kids to support the “Don’t Give Up” Campaign, featuring a specially designed t-shirt that will support the missions of both nonprofit organizations. The “Don’t Give Up” Campaign is a viral movement created to establish a support system of individuals who have faced their life struggles and are speaking out about their achievements, while providing solutions of hope for those still struggling.

This collaboration supports services for youth and families, while providing a platform for those who have overcome their struggles with substance use and addiction, and gives them the opportunity to share hope and solutions with others. The collaboration was made possible through the generous support of industry manufacturer and ecommerce retailer Vanilla Star Jeans, who will produce 36,000 exclusive t-shirts under the company’s brand names Hippie Laundry and Lazer.

“Thanks to the support of retailer Bon-Ton, the “Don’t Give Up” t-shirts will be sold in stores and online just in time for the 2017 Back-to-School season” commented Road Recovery, “Bon-Ton embodies the true spirit of the “Don’t Give Up” Campaign by supporting Road Recovery and Partnership for Drug-Free Kids and our critical work providing direct services to our nation’s at risk youth and their families.”

Each t-shirt is printed with Road Recovery’s “Don’t Give Up” design on the front, while hidden from view on the underside, consumers will discover the Partnership’s Helpline number (855DRUGFREE) and website (www.drugfree.org), for a lifeline of support for families struggling with their child’s substance use. The t-shirt’s design serves as a call to action for anyone who is in need of support against the challenges that face youth today.

The “Don’t Give Up” t-shirts will be available starting August 31st at all Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson’s, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers stores and online at bonton.com/dontgiveup.

Since January 2015, participants were invited to share their own positive message to persist and “Don’t Give Up”. To date, hundreds of participants have contributed to the #DontGiveUpCampaign on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Active participants include young people, teachers, parents, sober youth participants of Road Recovery’s RecoveryTrax program, as well as Road Recovery supporters from the music and entertainment industries, such as Macklemore, Slash, Duran Duran’s John Taylor and Roger Taylor, Smokey Robinson, and Dr. Oz, many of who have also confronted similar struggles.
