FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

APPLETON, Wis. (August 14, 2017) – The Fox Cities Chamber’s monthly educational program, Business Breakfast Bytes, will resume in September and address the challenges for employees managing their work while caring for aging parents. The September morning session will occur on Tuesday, September 19 from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at Bridgewood Resort Hotel and Conference Center.

The upcoming session, “Aging Parents and the Workplace,” will feature a panel of experts that will provide education regarding the scope of the issue, how a company can assist their employees who find themselves caring for aging parents, identify resources available for those employees and self-care. Steve Baue, President/Owner of ERC: Counselors & Consultants, will lead the session and facilitate the panel, featuring: Jennifer VanRite, Counselor at ERC: Counselors & Consultants; Joel G. Hopper, Enterprise Data Management & Analytics at Kimberly-Clark Corporation; and Karen Dickrell, Professor, Family Living Educator/Department Head at Outagamie County – UW Extension.

There is a rising number of employees in the workforce that are being sandwiched between raising children and needing to take care of elderly parents who may no longer be able to take care of themselves. Corporate awareness regarding this growing concern will be vital to overall employee productivity and satisfaction. In addition, employees who are currently nurturing aging parents while managing their own careers should be cognizant of their own self-care.

“An increasing number of people are seeing family roles reversed and our aging parents needing our help. This role-reversal can be overwhelming, emotionally draining, and exhausting – made worse without a focus on self-care. This Business Breakfast Bytes session will focus on information and strategies to help navigate parent care issues as well as offer tips and examples for employers to support their employees in these evolving roles,” shared Baue.

Business Breakfast Bytes are a monthly business educational program focused on providing our small to mid-sized business members across the Fox Cities region with education and resources addressing top business concerns.

Visit the Chamber website for complete details of the September session, being hosted at Bridgewood Resort Hotel and Conference Center in Neenah in their Wisconsin Room, from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19.
