New North Inc.: Debuts first in new video series around talent recruitment

New North, Inc. – The first of a series of short, shareable videos, aimed at recruiting talent to the New North region, debuts this week. Featuring Alonzo Highsmith, senior personnel executive for the Green Bay Packers, the initial video is themed around what it is like to “Live” in the New North.

Available at www.lifeinthenewnorth.com, the new, one-minute videos are intended to be shared on social-media channels and follow up on the full-length, talent-recruitment video which premiered in December 2016 at the New North Summit. More than 40 companies in the region have incorporated that video into their recruiting efforts, and the video has 5,000-plus views, with more than 10 percent of its traffic coming from the state of Illinois.

“Talent recruitment continues to be a significant factor for companies making economic-development decisions,” says Jerry Murphy, executive director of New North Inc. “The goal of the new, shorter videos is to continue to deliver our message to those who might be considering a move to the New North. We know that in today’s world video is consumed in short bursts, and we believe that relatable people from the region can best speak to the activities and assets of the New North.”

Future videos are planned around the themes of “Belong,” “Play,” “Achieve,” “Prosper” and “Impact,” and will be rolled out roughly once per month.

Highsmith moved to the New North in 2012 after spending the majority of his life in Houston, South Florida and Montreal. In the video, he shares his strong appreciation for life in the region, saying, “You could raise a family here and do great things without breaking your budget.” Highsmith goes on to discuss other things he enjoys about the New North, including his neighbors and the ability to walk to many activities.

These videos were created to complement the New North online recruitment tool, ‘Life in the New North,’ which offers an overview of the reasons why Northeast Wisconsin is “north of what you expect.” This section of the New North website was developed by, and for, human resource professionals across the region to help attract new talent and community members to Northeast Wisconsin. Organizations are encouraged to link their HR/career pages to this section of the New North website to communicate the reality of New North being the perfect mix of life for everyone.
