Green Bay, Wis.- (June 7, 2017) – Leadership Green Bay Class of 2016 team four completed a new reading area for Navarino Park’s summer reading program. The summer reading program now meets every Wednesday. Area children are given a healthy snack, read a book by a community leader, and given a copy of the book to take home. Prior to the implementation of the reading area attendees had to gather on picnic tables or on the ground. The new reading area features a concrete platform with limestone rock seating organized in a semi-circle around a bench.

Leadership Green Bay, a community-based leadership program of the Greater Green Bay Chamber, helps participants grow as leaders and become more engaged in the community. Each year, the program includes team community projects. Today, June 7, 2017, team four completed their project with a ribbon cutting. Team four includes, Kari Moody of UWGB, Faith Hill of PAi, Sara Halfmann of Denmark State Bank, Brian Blaney of Schenk, Chris Ostrand an entrepreneur, Adam Sutter a community volunteer, and Nicole Ronk, Court Appointed Special Advocates of Brown County.

Today’s ribbon cutting resembled the agenda of the summer reading program events. Children that attended were read a book by Dr. Nelson of Prevea and received a book to take home. The purpose of this project was to create a dedicated reading area for people in the park and inspire children to read more. The Navarino Neighborhood Association is very grateful for the new reading area as it allowed the association to expand its summer reading program.

Sponsors of the reading area: Prevea Health, Georgia-Pacific, PAi, Denmark State Bank, Schenk, Family of team advisor Alisa Anderson, and Family of each group member.
