Lac du Flambeau – June 5, 2017 – The Lac du Flambeau Business Development Corporation Board of Directors recently announced that Randy Soulier will serve as interim CEO. He previously served as BDC board president, and he has been with the BDC since it started in 2012. Soulier takes over for Brent McFarland who recently resigned.

“Going forward we have a strong team in place and we are positioned both financially and operationally to move ahead uninterrupted,” Soulier says.

Last fiscal year, the BDC contributed $286,830 to the Tribe’s general fund. The BDC exists to diversify the Tribe’s non-gaming revenue sources and create sustainable prosperity and careers for Tribal Members.

With the change in leadership, the BDC board revised the leadership structure based on best practices of other high-performing organizations. Former BDC Board Member Melissa Doud becomes interim COO after serving as BDC director of lending. Beth Gilsoul remains CFO.

“The new leadership structure adds an extra layer of checks and balances to the BDC. Soulier and Gilsoul both agreed finance reports should be presented by the CFO to the board of directors. Together the CEO and CFO will be able to present a more complete picture to board members,” Soulier says.

“With all changes there are opportunities to evolve the organization to make it even stronger,” Soulier says. “Employees, Tribal Members, and business partners, I’m hopeful, will see this as another step in taking care of this enterprise in a way that produces a sustainable livelihood for generations.”

For employees with questions, Soulier says he’s scheduling meetings with all employees.

“Employees will continue work and our businesses will continue to operate as normal,” Soulier says.

For members who have questions about the BDC, Soulier asks them to call him directly at (715) 388-0502 or to visit the BDC offices (14284 Hwy 70 West). He also can be reached by email.

The BDC search is underway for a permanent CEO and to fill open board seats. Interested candidates should contact the Tribal Secretary’s office at 715-588-4227

“Our current leadership team has a deep understanding and lengthy service with the BDC,” Soulier says. “This gives continuity across the enterprise while the BDC board conducts its search for our next CEO.”
