James Madison Academic Campus, 8135 W Florist Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53218

When

Thursday, May 18th; 1:15 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.

This is the first of six GE College & Career Centers to open in Milwaukee Public Schools. The remainder of the College & Career Centers, located in each of our traditional high schools, will open by the beginning of the 2017-18 school year.

The GE Foundation grant initially invested in nineteen schools to improve core competency levels through added professional development of teachers and developing career readiness skills of students. The GE Foundation / MPS schools have identified several best practices that are now being shared across the district.

MPS’ College & Career Centers assist all Milwaukee-area students in grades six through 12 with free college and career support, admissions assistance, financial aid, scholarship applications, and resume and essay writing. The Centers will also provide educational workshops on a variety of college and career readiness topics. James Madison’s Center will be open during regular school hours for workshops and post-secondary planning and access support. In addition, there will be evening and Saturday hours at other centers.
