Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Pathways High, an innovative, real world project based charter high school opening this August in downtown Milwaukee announced today it received a grant from Bader Philanthropies to support program development during the school's implementation year. Specifically, the funds will be used to support the development of real world, multi-disciplinary projects through the collaborative efforts of Pathways High teaching staff and partner mentors, including the STEM School and Academy in Highlands Ranch, CO. In addition, the grant will be used to fund programs -- team building experiences, cooking classes, school gardening projects, theater trips, app development and community art projects -- throughout the summer which engage students in Pathways High's project based model and help establish a strong school culture of mutual trust and support. These innovative programs and a three week Culture Camp at the beginning of the school year will foster bonds of unity among students who represent diverse demographics across the metro Milwaukee region.
"The Pathways High team is incredibly appreciative of this generous grant from Bader Philanthropies as it will help us during the critical start-up phase of Pathways High, a time when no state funds are available for implementation of charter schools. These programs are the first step in a supported launch to a productive and fulfilling adulthood for Pathways High students," stated Julia Burns, Board President of Pathways High.
"Bader Philanthropies is committed to improving the quality of life of diverse communities in Milwaukee and Pathways High's focus on developing exceptional adults through engaging, real world projects and experiences aligns well with Bader Philanthropies' mission. We're pleased to support Pathways High's work during their implementation year," commented Jeff Rosen, Education Program Officer for Bader Philanthropies.
