Weston – Governor Scott Walker’s biennial budget proposal prioritizes student success and includes significant investments in K-12 education, including $649 million in new state aids for all Wisconsin K-12 schools. Additionally, the governor’s proposal lifts total K-12 investment to $11.5 billion over two years, an all-time high. Governor Walker traveled to Mountain Bay Elementary School this morning to discuss the positive impact these investments will have on the D.C. Everest Area School District.

“More jobs, higher wages, and historically high employment have led to a stronger Wisconsin, and with our positive fiscal reforms, we’ve created a Reform Dividend,” Governor Walker said. “Our budget prioritizes student success by investing more money into education than ever before in the history of our state. This budget is about looking forward and addressing the future needs of Wisconsin’s workforce, and providing our students with a top-notch education is the first step in reaching that goal.”

The D.C. Everest Area School District is estimated to receive more than $92.1 million in funding from the state under Governor Walker’s biennial budget, including:

An increase of $3,448,840 in Per Pupil Aid. Governor Walker’s budget proposal increases per-pupil funding by $200 per pupil in Fiscal Year 2018 and $204 per pupil in Fiscal Year 2019. This marks the largest increase since the 2005-2008 biennium.
The D.C. Everest Area School District may also be eligible for further funding under Governor Walker’s budget proposal, such as mental health grants, energy efficiency incentives, and special needs grants.
