Marketplace Home Mortgage: Executive joins elite mortgage industry group

Marketplace Home Mortgage’s Elly Cummings earns MBA’s Certified Mortgage Banker accreditation

Edina, Minn. – A senior level executive at Marketplace Home Mortgage is joining a prestigious group of industry leaders charged with shaping the future of the mortgage business, the company announced today.

Chief Operating Officer Elly Cummings earned her Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) designation from the Mortgage Bankers Association.

“I’ve wanted my CMB since I first heard about the program almost 15 years ago,” Cummings said. The CMB network will provide Elly and Marketplace access to some of the best and most experienced professionals in the mortgage industry.

CMB accreditation requires years of experience and continuing education. Cummings spent the summer preparing for her written and oral exams, which she passed late last month.

Membership in the elite CMB network gives Cummings access to networking, recruiting and growth opportunities that will benefit Marketplace for years to come, she said. She’ll also coach others at the company hoping to earn the accreditation.

“It’s amazing to think how much Elly has done for Marketplace since we brought her on board,” said CEO Keith White. “She’s the perfect example of our focus on attracting the best and brightest team members to provide executive leadership that allows us to grow and prosper.”

As part of her ongoing CMB work, Cummings will make an annual trip to Washington to confer with lawmakers who set policy for the mortgage industry. She said she’s excited to leverage her experience to help consumers and industry partners on a national scale.

“Advocacy is the best way to expand housing to consumers by allowing them to participate in the American dream of homeownership,” Cummings said. “I’m honored to start making positive changes to the mortgage industry.”
