MADISON, WI — RePower Madison welcomes the announcement of a new CEO at MGE in the coming months. We call on the incoming CEO, Jeff Keebler, to help make Madison a national leader in clean energy with fair & affordable bills. Mr. Keebler can show MGE’s support for this vision by immediately announcing an intention to reduce mandatory fees and accelerate renewable energy deployment.
MGE currently generates 70% of its electricity by burning coal. It is time for MGE and Madison to leave the era of coal dependency behind and transition to a clean energy future.
The new CEO will face opportunities as well as challenges left to him from decades of decisions to invest heavily in coal. We believe this change can start with new leadership at the top of MGE and look forward to hearing Mr. Keebler’s plans to get our community off coal.
