Practice Velocity Opening Madison Office, Adding Software Development Team

Practice Velocity is hiring up to six software engineers to jump-start its new satellite Software Development office in Madison, Wis. The Machesney Park-based medical software company already employs more than 225 people.

“Given the rapid growth of our customer base, we need to hire a large number of software developers who can support and enhance our products,” said David Stern, MD, CEO and Founder of Practice Velocity, LLC. “We chose space in Madison to take advantage of the IT-rich environment in what is becoming a leading Health IT hub in the country. We will be adding multiple positions in both our Madison and Machesney Park locations in the next 12 months.”

The .Net software engineers are responsible for developing new features and maintaining functionality of Practice Velocity’s award-winning suite of applications. VelociDoc EMR Software, which is customized for use in urgent care and occupational medicine centers, has been the top-rated EMR for urgent care centers by KLAS Research since they created the urgent care category in 2009.

Practice Velocity wants to hire high energy, proactive developers who can work to improve application performance, enhance user interface experience, and ensure compliance with existing internal design, coding, and documentation standards.

“We’re not just any Midwestern software technology firm,” said Jennifer Wood, Director of People Operations at Practice Velocity. “Our company embraces a work-hard, play-hard mentality that looks and feels like a Silicon Valley tech company. Practice Velocity employees enjoy work-life balance, an open-management structure, and a culture that encourages leadership from every team member.”

The company’s developers work in two-week Sprints following Agile Methodology. Developers should be proficient in SQL, Javascript/HTML/CSS, C#.net, VB.net, ASP.net, and Blend/WPF for UI in a Microsoft shop. For more information on the job openings, visit Practice Velocity’s “Careers” page.

The new hires will work in a downtown Madison office co-located with AkitaBox, a sister company of Practice Velocity founded in August 2015. AkitaBox is a SaaS application that helps building managers optimize maintenance and capital planning while reducing manual data entry. The office, on the 9th Floor of 316 W. Washington, overlooks two lakes and is walking distance to both State Street and the Capitol.

“The partnership between the two companies provides us an opportunity to work with one of the premier software companies in its industry,” said Todd Hoffmaster, CEO and co-founder of AkitaBox. “To learn from those who have been there and done that has been vital to our companies growth and learning curve. It’s fun to see and work with a team of passionate people who are engaged to solving complicated daily issues.”
