Madison – Edgewood College has been named to the 2016 ‘Best National Universities’ list by U.S. News & World Report. The college rankings were released today.

This announcement is the most recent in a series of national recognitions for Edgewood College. In the last several weeks the College has been named as a “Best in the Midwest” college by The Princeton Review, and was named to MONEY magazine’s “Best Colleges” List for 2016-17.

“Our focus remains on creating deeply engaging educational experiences for all of our students—the kinds of experiences that prepare them for employment and to become the kinds of engaged citizens, ethical leaders, reflective scholars, and thoughtful innovators our community and our world need,” President Scott Flanagan said. “It is gratifying to receive national recognition for the work our faculty and staff do every day to make that happen.”

The U.S. News rankings focus on academic excellence, with schools ranked on up to 15 measures of academic quality. Overall, the rankings emphasize student outcomes – including graduation and retention rates – which carry the most weight at 30 percent. The top National Universities and National Liberal Arts Colleges had significantly higher graduation and freshman retention rates than other schools.
