World Champion, top international cyclocross talent to begin season in Waterloo, WI

(Waterloo, WI) – Cyclocross World Champion Wout Van Aert will join much of the world’s top ‘cross talent at this year’s Trek CXC Cup. Taking place September 17-18, the Trek CXC Cup brings a weekend of World Cup-level competition to Trek’s global headquarters in Waterloo, WI. The event will kick off an American tour for the sport’s top competitors followed shortly by Cross Vegas and Jingle Cross.

“I’m excited to race in Waterloo. It is an honor for me to show my rainbow jersey to the ‘cross fans of Wisconsin and beyond,” said Van Aert. “I see it as a perfect rehearsal for the first World Cup races in the States.”

The race will be no cakewalk for the reigning World Champion as much of the world’s top ranked competition, including Trek-sponsored Telenet-Fidea’s Tom Muesen, will join in the weekend’s competition.

The women’s professional race promises to be just as exciting as 12-time US National Champion Katie Compton will bring her talents to the ‘Loo to race against upcoming stars like local favorite Kaitlin Antonneu.

In response to growing national interest in the race, along with the international appeal of Europe’s premier talent beginning their seasons, the weekend’s racing will be broadcast live globally on Trekbikes.com.

Also in attendance will be former World Champion Sven Nys. Nys, one of the most widely-recognized and beloved ‘cross racers in the world, provided important feedback to Trek’s course designers in early August during the site’s preparation to host the world’s best. This year’s CXC Cup is a unique opportunity to see, and compete alongside, the best talents of today, tomorrow, and yesterday all at one awesome celebration of cyclocross right in Trek Bicycle’s backyard.
