Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin: Receives $10,000 Monsanto Fund grant for Columbia County Mobile Pantry Program

ARLINGTON, Wisc. (07/13/16) – Employees from Monsanto’s Arlington facility recommended Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin to receive a $10,000 grant from the Monsanto Fund’s 2016 site grant initiative. Funds from the grant will be used to support the Columbia County Mobile Pantry Program.

“Last year Second Harvest Foodbank provided over 261,000 pounds of food in Columbia county through our Mobile Pantry program,” said Dan Stein, President & CEO at Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin. “We are incredibly grateful to the Monsanto Fund and the employees from Monsanto’s Arlington facility for helping us make a difference in the lives of people struggling with hunger in Columbia county.”

Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin previously received a Monsanto Fund site grant in 2013 and 2014 to provide meals to distribute in southwestern Wisconsin

“The Second Harvest Foodbank’s Mobile Pantry Program provides a free source of food to families and individuals facing hunger in the Columbia County area where we operate,” said Nick Deckard, Operations Lead at Monsanto Arlington. “We’re proud to support Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin with this Monsanto Fund grant.”

This year, the Monsanto Fund awarded more than $1.4 million to nonprofit organizations through its site grant initiative to help address essential needs in rural communities. Nonprofit organizations across the U.S. have received more than $7.5 million through this program over the last five years.
