Steve Hannah is the keynote speaker for the third annual Wisconsin Innovation Awards.

Steve has spent his working life in several facets of the media business. He worked for CBS NEWS in New York, logged 15 years at The Milwaukee Journal as a writer and Managing Editor, spent 10 years as a consultant for an investment company, and from 2004-2015 served as CEO of The Onion, undoubtedly America’s Finest News Source.

Currently he spends the colder months in Austin,Texas and summers at his home on the Wisconsin River in Sauk County.

More than any single thing he’s done, Steve’s 12-year run writing a syndicated column called “State of Mind”—profiling “extraordinary ordinary” people—was far and away the most instructive part of his career. He learned that more than raw or even refined brainpower, a combination of resilience, humor, humility and the capacity to “reinvent yourself” are essential traits for anyone who aspires to chase a dream—including, but not limited to, innovative business people.

Tickets are available for the August 16, 2016 Wisconsin Innovation Awards at the Wisconsin Union Theater in Madison.

The Wisconsin Innovation Awards Ceremony is presented by American Family Insurance and Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, and is organized by a volunteer steering committee comprised of leaders from business, nonprofit, and education
