Ten Wisconsin companies make Fortune 500 list

Brookfield’s Fiserv and Milwaukee’s WEC Energy Group climbed their way back onto the Fortune 500 list.

The two join eight other Wisconsin companies in the annual list, which measures the 500 largest U.S. companies based on revenues.
Fiserv, which hadn’t been on the list since 2010, offers technology services to financial institutions.

WEC Energy Group, previously known as Wisconsin Energy Corporation, hadn’t been on the list in more than a decade. But it found its way back after last year’s acquisition of Integrys Energy.

Glendale-based Johnson Controls kept its top spot among Wisconsin companies, with revenues of $40 billion ranking 70th in the U.S. Next up was Milwaukee insurer Northwestern Mutual, with record revenues of $28 billion last year placing it 100 nationally.

Some of the biggest movers included defense contractor Oshkosh Corp., which dropped from 394 to 424, and Madison’s American Family Insurance, which moved up to 332 from 358.

Walmart held onto the top spot nationally, with $482 billion in revenues.
