Madison, Wisc. — Wisconsin Bank & Trust is pleased to announce it has been recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration as the number one SBA lender in Wisconsin for the 2015 fiscal year in its asset category of $1-5 billion.

WB&T received an SBA Volume Lender Award for completing 61 loans, totaling $27.2 million, for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2015. The bank is among just 11 state lenders honored by the SBA for either the number or type of loans made to small businesses.

“We are extremely honored and pleased to receive this recognition from the SBA,” said Kevin Tenpas, President and CEO of Wisconsin Bank & Trust. “Providing loans to small businesses is a priority and we’ve worked hard to develop the expertise and a system to make it as simple and efficient as possible for owners, so they can focus on running their businesses.”

Many small business owners seek SBA loans because they are able to lock in fixed rates to finance a new business or expand an existing one, or for other costs such as purchasing equipment or property.

“SBA’s lender relationships are among the most important tools we have to help small businesses start, grow and succeed,” said Eric Ness, SBA’s Wisconsin District Director in a written statement. “SBA guarantees the loans, but ultimately it is the banks, credit unions and community-based lenders who put capital in the hands of business owners. Those dollars become new products, more services, higher employment, expanded facilities, and successful businesses and communities.”

The SBA will present the awards in the lenders’ home offices and will also honor them at the 2016 Wisconsin Lenders Conference, scheduled for May 19-20 in Wisconsin Dells.
