Bill would require more oversight of state administrative rules

MADISON – Last week, the Assembly Committee on State Affairs and Government Operations voted to send Assembly Bill 251, regulatory reform legislation, to the full Assembly. This legislation improves oversight and ensures more public involvement in the rulemaking process, including requiring the legislature to approve any regulation that would cost more than $10 million over a two-year period.
WMC has been championing this proposal alongside a wide cross-section of pro-business organizations. In response to last week’s committee vote, WMC Senior Vice President of Government Relations, Scott Manley, released the following statement:
“This legislation will continue to build on the important regulatory reforms Wisconsin has made over the past several legislative sessions. Job creators in our state thank Chairman Rob Swearingen for his leadership in getting this bill out of committee and look forward to a full vote of the Assembly in the near future.”
